X. Shawn Zhao is the Global VP, Greater China General Counsel at Hewlett-Packard Company.  He joined the HP Greater China Legal team on July 16, 2010.

Shawn came from Google where he has served for over 4 years as the Managing Counsel, Greater China, leading the Legal team advising on product/IP, commercial/corporate, litigation/law enforcement, employment and general operations issues.  Prior to Google, Shawn had worked at Cisco for over 6 years as the Corporate Counsel supporting all lines of business in the Mainland China and Hong Kong.  He had previously worked at Marconi Communications, Inc. as its Corporate Counsel for China and Hong Kong.  He started his legal career as an associate at Armstrong Teasdale LLP, a law firm in St. Louis, Missouri in the U.S.

Shawn received his B.A. in English from Sichuan University, M.A. in American History from the University of Alabama in Birmingham and J.D. from Saint Louis University School of Law in St. Louis, Missouri.  He is a member of the Missouri Bar.  He also served as a co-chair of the In-House Legal Committee of the AmCham – China.
