Ling Li is a partner based in Allen & Overy’s Beijing office. Her Corporate practice has a strong emphasis on cross-border mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, strategic investment and capital markets. She has particular experience in advising Chinese companies on outbound transactions. Highlights of her recent experience include advising a number of Chinese state-owned enterprises and major private companies in relation to their investments in the power, oil and gas, chemicals, energy trading, TMT and real estate sectors in multiple jurisdictions including Europe, the Americas, and Australia.
Prior to joining Allen & Overy, Ling acted as general counsel of a large Chinese state-owned enterprise that focuses on overseas investment. Under her leadership, the legal team assisted the company in a number of successful outbound investments and transactions in several countries, which laid a solid foundation for the company’s overseas expansion and development, from both a legal perspective and, more importantly, a commercial perspective. Prior to that, Ling worked with a top Wall Street law firm.
In 2011, Ling was awarded In-house Legal Award in Asia Women in Business by China Law & Practice. She was also voted as one of China’s Ten Leading In-house Legal Counsel by Asian Legal Business in 2012.
Ling was admitted to the New York bar.
