In Salon I, a discussion was held on the topic of “Legal Team Building and Motivation in the Process of Rapid Corporate Development”. Ms. Zhang Xi, Vice President of Bayer China and General Counsel of Greater China, moderated the discussion.

Ms. Zhang Xi listed 8 issues related to team building and motivation, and had an in-depth interactive exchange with the guests.

Mr. Zhang Zikuan, Vice President of Lenovo Group, General Counsel of China and Lenovo Ventures Group, recalled his 21 years of experience in Lenovo and shared his insights with the guests. In Salon II, a discussion was held on the topic of “System Design and Evaluation Criteria of Outside Counsel Selection and Retention”. Mr. Feng Xiaoyao, Legal Director of Saint-Gobain (China) Investment Co., Ltd. for Asia Pacific, shared his real experience in the selection of lawyers.

Mr. Feng raised the questions of how to select and hire external lawyers, the ways, cooperation mode and fees; whether the company as the first party should find lawyers or law firms, whether the brand is important or the personal ability and experience of lawyers are important; whether the awards won by the partners of law firms have any influence on the selection and hiring; what is the difference between state-owned enterprises and private enterprises; and what aspects of lawyers are most preferred and most minded by the law chiefs, etc. to discuss with the guests.

Mr. Wang Zhaohua, Senior Vice President of Michelin (China) Investment Co., Ltd. shared his experience and raised the question of “Do you need to hire a lawyer when you have a legal department”.
